The following letter-form was brought about as a means of teaching my children the Word of God through the mail. And of course, quite naturally so, that’s the reason I begin these letters with "Dear Children" and end them with "Love Dad". So for the rest of you who participate in these weekly messages, please keep their original intended purpose in mind.
Dear Children,
On the 8th of January 2011, during the early morning hours while in prayer, the Lord gave me the following Scripture:
“And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Mark 13:13 KJV)
As I read through it the Lord spoke His Word to me loud and clear: “Chuck and Nancy Missler!” So just what did it mean? Well, I knew exactly what it meant. Because you see Chuck and Nancy Missler (founders of Koinonia House) have written a book entitled “The Kingdom, Power, & Glory”, and the error contained therein is down right frightening! But, of course, the very good reason the Almighty gave me Mark 13:13 was to prepare me for the writing of today’s message – “Chuck And Nancy Missler: What Un-Confessed Sin Do You Have In Your Life?”
Now please keep it in mind, as we continue along with God’s Word of correction for Chuck and Nancy Missler, that His chosen Scripture contained the number “13” two (2) times (chapter and verse)… with the biblical meaning being “depravity and rebellion” times two (2x).
So, that’s where we’re headed to in today’s sermonet. But in order to get there, we must first go back in time to 6/25/00 when the Lord gave me installment #1 of the sermonet series entitled “How Do You Want Your Fire… Now Or Later?” Because you see it was in that particular series of messages that I began explaining what the Lord was showing me about the “human body and sin”: how God cleans us up after we trash it up (body/soul/spirit) in sin. In fact what was said in that long running sermonet series can best be summarized with the following two short verses from the book of Romans:
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2 KJV)
Now that’s simple enough, right? The “transformation” [metamorphose] of a Believer comes about as he/she “renews their mind” by obeying the “Will of God” for their life. It’s what’s commonly called “becoming born again”. But it doesn’t come without a struggle! Because in order for the “new birth” to take place in the Believer, he/she must first “die to self” on the flaming “sacrificial altar of God” as they use their body to carry out the Will of the Father. However, if the “Believer” is not willing to go through God’s “sacrificial fire” in this life, he/she will have to endure the “fires of Hell” for all eternity in the next life. In other words, “How Do You Want Your Fire… Now Or Later?”
But anyway, as the Good Lord had planned it, our sermonet series on the “human body and sin” got pretty deep into the human anatomy… down to the basic cell structure even. In fact the things the Father was showing me about His design of the human body – the “temple of God” – was really blowing me away. I had never heard anything like it before… that is until I started reading the book He had me to purchase on 12/14/01. And this, in the pure and simple of it, was what that book by Chuck and Nancy Missler was all about:
Be Ye Transformed explores what God’s Truth is and how we can be “set free” to live it, what the Mind of Christ is, and what it means to renew our minds so that we can be transformed into God’s Image. (Sixth Printing October 2000)
So, nine (9) long years ago the Lord had me to read Chuck and Nancy Missler’s “transforming” book… and now it’s time to do a book report. I mean, after all, as can be seen by the abundance of yellow highlighting in my personal copy, there was lots of good stuff contained therein… but there was also some pretty bad “error” that went along with it. In fact today we’re going to focus on three (3) parts in particular that I marked as being “serious error”, and this one is the first:
Be Ye Transformed
Section Three: Seven-fold Spirit of God
Chapter Five: The Mind of Christ (Part 1)
– Page 100 & 101 –
______________________________
Seven Fold Spirit of God
That Gives Us
The Mind of Christ
(Isaiah 11:2)Spirit of the Lord is the supernatural power source that creates God’s Thoughts in our hearts
Spirit of Wisdom is all of God’s supernatural Thoughts themselves
Spirit of Understanding is God’s personal illumination of those Thoughts
Spirit of Counsel is God’s personal instructions for Godly choices
Spirit of Strength is God’s supernatural ability to perform those Thoughts in our lives
Spirit of Knowledge is experiencing God’s Life (His Thoughts) in place of our own
Fear of the Lord is walking in God’s Love and Truth, fleeing anything that would quench His SpiritAs we said in Chapter Three, our mind (nous) is not just our conscious thoughts, reason or intellect, but a whole conceptual process. On Chart 1 (page 69) we showed that our mind begins with the spirit that resides at the core of our being. That spirit then creates the thoughts of our hearts, and, in turn, produces the actions of our lives.
The Mind of Christ is the very same conceptual process, only it’s a “divine” process of thinking. God’s Holy Spirit creates God’s supernatural Thoughts in our hearts and then, His Holy Spirit produces those Thoughts as godly actions in our lives.
***********************
Now that, in a nutshell, is what Chuck and Nancy Missler taught about the Believer’s mind being renewed in Christ through the Seven (7) Spirits of God (Isaiah 11:2)… and therein lies the problem. I mean, “Be Ye Transformed” was so close to the truth, but yet so very far from it. And this is what I mean:
In the beginning God created man in the image of God – body, soul, and spirit. Adam was created a “natural man”, but designed to become a “spiritual man” through his uncompromising obedience to the Will of God. In other words, Adam’s mind would have been renewed – “natural” to “spiritual” – if he would have only obeyed God in all things. So you see this thing about “be ye transformed” goes all the way back to that fateful day in the Garden of Eden when God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Man became a “living soul” knowing right from wrong and fully capable of choosing between the two.
“And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul (G5590); the last Adam was made a quickening spirit (G4151). Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural (G5591); and afterward that which is spiritual (G4152).” (1 Corinthians 15:45-46 KJV)
Soul (G5590) [psuche] – that material part of man held in common with animals (Matt. 10:28; Rom. 2:9). Contrast soma (4983), body, and pneuma (4151), spirit (1 Thess. 5:23). The psuche, no less than the sarx (4561), flesh, belongs to the lower region of man’s being. Sometimes psuche stands for the immaterial part of man made up of the soul, psuche in the restrictive sense of the animus, the life element, and the pneuma (4151), spirit. But animals are not said to possess a spirit; only man has a spirit, giving him the ability to communicate with God. (The Complete Word Study New Testament With Greek Parallel)
Body (G4983) [soma] - From G4982; the body (as a sound whole), used in a very wide application, literally or figuratively: - bodily, body, slave. (Strong’s Hebrew And Greek Dictionary)
Spirit (G4151) [pneuma] – From G4154; a current of air, that is, breath (blast) or a breeze; by analogy or figuratively a spirit, that is, (human) the rational soul, (by implication) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, daemon, or (divine) God, Christ’s spirit, the Holy spirit: - ghost, life, spirit (-ual, -ually), mind. Compare G5590. (Strong’s Hebrew And Greek Dictionary)
Natural (G5591) [psuchikos] – From G5590; sensitive that is, animate (in distinction on the one hand from G4152, which is the higher or renovated nature; and on the other from G5446, which is the lower or bestial nature): - natural, sensual. (Strong’s Hebrew And Greek Dictionary)
Spiritual (G4152) [pneumatikos] – From G4151; non-carnal, that is, (humanly) ethereall (as opposed to gross), or (daemoniacally) a spirit (concretely), or (divinely) supernatural, regenerate, religious: - spiritual. Compare G5591. (Strong’s Hebrew And Greek Dictionary)
Natural (G5446) [phusikos] - From G5449; “physical”, that is, (by implication) instinctive: - natural. Compare G5591. (Strong’s Hebrew And Greek Dictionary)
Now with that in mind, let me draw you a picture to help explain the way in which God designed our “body/soul/spirit” to work. Because you see the simple illustration I’ll use is that of a bologna sandwich with the meat stuck in between two pieces of bread. The “soul” is the bologna, and the “body” and “spirit” are the two opposing pieces of bread.
You see the “soul” is kinda like caught in the middle of the warring factions, and likewise stuck with the responsibility of having to choose between the “fleshly/bestial” desires of the “natural body” (the bread on the bottom – what looks good, smells good, taste good, sounds good, and feels good) and what the “Holy Spirit” speaks to us (the bread on top – God’s Will; His Word of instruction for our lives).
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit (G4151), and ye shall not fulfil the lust (G1939) of the flesh (G4561). For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” (Galatians 5:16-17 KJV)
Lust (G1939) [epithhumia] – the active and individual desire resulting from pathos (3806), the diseased condition of the soul (Mark 4:19; Jude 1:16). See horme (3730), an impulse; orexis (3715), lust. (The Complete Word Study New Testament With Greek Parallel)
Flesh (G4561) [sarx] – Probably from the base of G4563; flesh (as stripped of the skin), that is, (strictly) the meat of an animal (as food), or (by extension) the body (as opposed to the soul (or spirit), or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred, or (by implication) human nature (with its frailties (physically or morally) and passions), or (specifically) a human being (as such): - carnal (-ly, + -ly minded), flesh ([-ly]). (Strong’s Hebrew And Greek Dictionary)
In the pure and simple of it, the “soul” is what makes the “body” do whatever it does…whether it’s in the “natural” obeying the “lust of the flesh”, or in the “spiritual” obeying the Will of the Father in Heaven. The “soul” is what actually gives the body the “life” that puts it into motion and makes it do what it does:
“For the life (H5315) of the flesh is in the blood…” (Leviticus 17:11 KJV)
And taking that one step further, seeing how the “life” word in that Scripture was translated from the Hebrew word “nephesh” (H5315), which is more often than not translated “soul”, we can also read that same verse as follows and still be correct in the context of this message:
“For the soul (H5315) of the flesh is in the blood…”
You see the difference between the two is that the “life” word most often deals with the living/breathing aspects of human existence, while the “soul” word involves thinking and reasoning and making godly choices (natural vs. spiritual).
And speaking of godly choices, “in the beginning” Adam’s “natural” body would have become “spiritual” if he would have only obeyed the Will of the Father. But seeing how he didn’t, God Almighty included a graphic reminder of his un-godly choice in the Old Testament animal sacrifices for the whole wide world to see:
“And this shall be the priest's due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep; and they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw.” (Deuteronomy 18:3 KJV)
You see when Adam used his body to satisfy his natural “fleshly/bestial” desires instead of the Will of the Father, he did so in three distinct steps with three distinct members of his human body:
#1 – He used his arm (shoulder) to take the forbidden fruit from Eve.
#2 – He used his jaw muscles (cheeks) to chew the forbidden fruit.
#3 – He used his stomach (maw) to digest the forbidden fruit he swallowed.
After Adam had made up his “mind” to please his wife (an extension of his flesh) instead of the Father, those three (3) parts of his “body” became energized by his “soul” to carry out the rebellious act against God. So instead of renewing his mind in the Spirit, Adam contaminated it with the very first sin that likewise produced the “diseased condition of the soul” that has plagued all of mankind every since (with the exception of Jesus).
And having said that, let’s get back to Chuck and Nancy Missler’s “Seven Fold Spirit of God That Gives Us The Mind of Christ”. Because the following excerpt from our sermonet “Life Through The Flesh And Blood Of Jesus!” sheds an entirely different “Light” on the subject at hand:
***************************************
You see the way this “Seven Step Process” works is that God’s Word/Breath/Light to the Believer is actually a “designer law” in itself for that individual. God sends down His Light in the form of a commandment to the Believer, and, if obeyed by the Believer, this same Word of Light will “judge” the Believer’s sin. Because this Light will go into the darkest areas of the Believer’s sin-filled soul, rooting out the darkness and replacing it with His glorious Light. However, this process only comes about by first hearing God’s Word, and then obeying it…and regardless of the pain encountered:
Step #1 – God sends down His Breath/Light to the Believer: the Spirit of the Lord.
Step #2 – God’s Light becomes a “baffling” thought (voice) in the mind of the Believer: the Spirit of Wisdom.
Step #3 – God’s Light becomes a clear command in the mind of the Believer: the Spirit of Understanding.
Step #4 – God’s Light encourages the Believer to obey His command even though the flesh is unwilling: the Spirit of Counsel.
Step #5 – God’s Light strengthens the Believer to war against the flesh and obey His command: the Spirit of Might.
Step #6 – God’s Light goes into the darkness of the sinful soul as the Believer “suffers” in obedience to His command: the Spirit of Knowledge.
Step #7 – God’s Light replaces the darkness in the Believer’s soul. The Believer has now received judgment for his/her sin and is found to be righteous: the Spirit of the Fear of the Lord.
***************************************
The "Seven (7) Spirits of God", as found in Isaiah 11:1-5, is a description of the process by which Jesus’ Body was made ready for His Victory over sin at the Cross. Jesus – the last “Adam” – prepared His Body through the "Seven (7) Spirits of God" to defeat the sin of the world that He would receive in His Body while on His Cross. That’s the way Jesus did it! However, the Believer overcomes the sin-filled flesh that’s already in his/her body, and likewise replaces it with Righteousness and Life, through the "Seven (7) Spirits of God". The completion of God’s seven-step process is what’s commonly called “becoming born again”… and it’s only made possible through the “Breath of God”:
“Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:” (John 20:21-22 KJV)
Symbolic of the Comforter (the fullness of the “Seven (7) Spirits of God” that was yet to come), Jesus breathed in the face of His disciples and said, “Receive ye the Holy Ghost”. And with that in mind, let’s go back to “in the beginning” and the first Adam:
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (Genesis 2:7 KJV)
Some 2000+ years ago, the Word (before He became the last Adam; Jesus) also breathed in the face of Adam (his nostrils) the “Breath of God” – the “Seven (7) Spirits of God” which likewise spoke God’s instructions (thou shalt and shalt not) to Adam.
But just what, you might ask, does that particular Scripture have to do with “hearing” the Will of the Father? I mean, after all, the Lord God breathed life into Adam’s nose – He did not speak it in his ear!
Well, let’s see if Brother Job can help us clear up this confusion through the following Scripture:
“As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul; All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils; My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.” (Job 27:2-4 KJV)
OK, so Jesus breathed on His disciples, the Lord breathed in Adam’s nose, and the Spirit of God was in Job’s nose, which brings us to this next Scripture:
“It is the spirit that quickeneth [gives life]; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I [Jesus] speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63 KJV)
Now isn’t that interesting! The Word of God is both Spirit and life…and Adam, Job, and Jesus’ disciples received it through their nose.
SMELL, n. - The sense of faculty by which through the instrumentally of the olfactory nerves; or the faculty of perceiving by the organs of the nose; one of the five senses. (Webster’s 1828 Dictionary)
So, God made the nose to do some mighty powerful “spiritual” smelling, and the following is a brief description of how the “olfactory nerve” makes it all happen:
The olfactory system is one of the first nerve systems to develop completely in the human being. During the seventh week of gestation, the embryo develops remarkably. It is during this period of growth that the telecephalon (the most forward part of the embryonic brain) develops the olfactory lobes which ultimately produce the riencephalon (the lymbic lobes which process our olfactory senses)…From the olfactory bulbs, smell impulses bypass the thalamus (the sensory relay nucleus for all senses except olfaction) and travel directly to the olfactory cortex in the temporal lobe or to the limbic system (especially the hypothalamus)…The limbic system has two key components – the hypothalamus (below the thalamus) and the pituitary gland. The hypothalamus is considered a nodal point in the pathways mediating autonomic, emotional, endocrine, and somatic functions. The hypothalamus regulates eating, drinking, sex, emotions (rage, fear, and extreme anxiety), waking, sleeping, body temperature, balance and many other functions. Through a combination of electrical and chemical messages, it directs the pituitary gland – the master gland of the body.
Now, in order to tie this nose/Spirit thing all together, what do you say we check out Michelangelo’s “Creation Of Adam”?
So did you get the picture? Adam got “touched” by God! And believe it or not but Michelangelo’s painting has everything to do with the way humans (which even included Jesus) “hear” the Will (G2307) of God through their “olfactory/hypothalamus” so that they might “do” the Will (G2307) of the Father:
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will (G2307) of God.” (Romans 12:1-2 KJV)
Will (G2307) [thelema] - From the prolonged form of G2309; a determination (properly the thing), that is, (actively) choice (specifically purpose, decree; abstractly volition) or (passively) inclination: - desire, pleasure, will. (Strong’s Hebrew And Greek Dictionaries)
Will (G2307) [thelema] - From the verb thelo (G2309), to will. The suffix –ma indicates that it is the result of the will. The will, not to be conceived as demand, but as an expression or inclination of pleasure towards that which is liked, that which pleases and creates joy. When it denotes God’s will, it signifies His gracious disposition toward something. Used to designate what God Himself does of His own good pleasure… Paul uses it especially with reference to God’s saving purpose (Eph. 1:5, 9, 11)…the will of God which must be done. (The Complete Word Study New Testament With Greek Parallel)
Well taking this back to our discussion on the “body/soul/spirit” and the “bologna sandwich”, it’s the “soul” of the Believer that’s stuck with the responsibility of having to choose between the “fleshly/bestial” desires of the “natural body” (received in the thalamus) and the Will of the Father (received in the hypothalamus). In fact the entire seven-step process of the Seven (7) Spirits of God renewing the mind of the Believer as they walk in obedience to the Will of the Father is found in the following verse from the book of Isaiah:
“Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.” (Isaiah 45:8 KJV)
Now at this point let me make note that the fourth Spirit of God – the Spirit of Counsel (the Comforter) – actually “drops down” through the blood brain barrier and enters into the darkness of the Believer’s fleshly (natural) body as he/she walks in obedience to the Will of the Father.
So it should be obvious by now that Chuck and Nancy Missler’s theory of how God “transforms” the mind of the Believer – “God’s Holy Spirit creates God’s supernatural Thoughts in our hearts and then, His Holy Spirit produces those Thoughts as godly actions in our lives” – is complete and total error. The Holy Spirit does not “produce” the supernatural Thoughts “as godly actions”, but instead gives the Believer the opportunity to prove his/her love for God by choosing to obediently produce the Father’s Will through their body.
And moving right along, the following is the second “serious error” that I noted in Chuck and Nancy Missler’s “transforming” book some nine (9) long years ago:
Be Ye Transformed
Section Three: Seven-fold Spirit of God –
Chapter Six: The Mind of Christ (Part 2)
– Page 126 –
______________________________How Do We Know God’s Will?
Now it’s wonderful when we can hear God’s voice in an emergency situation like the one above, but often, in our day-to-day living, God’s Voice comes from reading His Word. This is where I am the most comfortable and where I am assured that it is, indeed, God’s voice and not just my own thoughts.
***********************
Now, with that in mind, the question remains: “Does Chuck and Nancy Missler really understand the absolute necessity of hearing God’s Voice in ‘real time’ – minute by minute – so they might know and do the Will of the Father for their lives?” I mean, after all, the following is God’s Truth concerning His Voice as spoken through A.W. Tozer:
“The Voice of God is the most powerful force in nature, indeed the only force in nature, for all energy is here only because the power-filled Word is being spoken. The Bible is the written word of God, and because it is written it is confined and limited by the necessities of ink and paper and leather. The Voice of God, however, is alive and free as the sovereign God is free. 'The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.' The life is in the speaking words. God's word in the Bible can have power only because it corresponds to God's word in the universe. It is the present Voice which makes the written Word all-powerful. Otherwise it would lie locked in slumber within the covers of a book…This universal Voice of God was by the ancient Hebrews often called Wisdom, and was said to be everywhere sounding and searching throughout the earth, seeking some response from the sons of men.” (The Pursuit of God - A.W. Tozer)
WOW! Was that a powerful word or what? In fact let’s take it just a little bit further by analyzing these “Words” that Jesus “speaks”:
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words (G4487) that I [Jesus] speak (G2980) unto you, they are spirit (G4151), and they are life.” (John 6:63 KJV)
Word (G4487) [rhema] – from reo, to speak. A word spoken or uttered; a speech or sentence consisting of several words; a word, command; denoting the operative or all powerful word or command of God; a report, account. Rhema stands for the subject matter of the word, the thing which is spoken about. (The Complete Word Study New Testament With Greek Parallel)
Speak (G2980) [laleo] - A prolonged form of an otherwise obsolete verb; to talk, that is, utter words: - preach, say, speak (after), talk, tell, utter. Compare G3004.
Jesus “speaks” the commandments of the Father – they are Spirit, and they are life – and the Spirit of Truth (The Comforter) delivers the Words to the Believer. So not only does Jesus “speak”, but the Holy Spirit “speaks” as well:
“I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak (G2980) of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak (G2980): and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” (John 16:12-14 KJV)
Isn’t this truly amazing? God speaks! And what’s so frightening about the way in which Chuck and Nancy Missler minimize the importance of hearing “God’s Voice” is that the same Words of instruction they’ve chosen to ignore – the “rhema” Words (God’s Will for their life) – will be the ones that condemn them on judgment day:
“I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. And if any man hear my words (G4487), and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words (G4487), hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day…He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” (John 12:46-48; Mark 16:16 KJV)
You see, it’s only through God’s “spoken Words” that we receive the commands that will crucify our flesh when obeyed. Our flesh will die, and His Spirit will be birthed in us, whenever we obey the Will of the Father through His “rhema” Words” of instruction for our lives:
“For I have not spoken (G2980) of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak (G2980). And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak (G2980) therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak (G2980).” (John 12:49-50 KJV)
Jesus was the “Voice of God” in Heaven – “The Word” – before He became “Flesh and Blood” on earth. Jesus (The Word) is the Body of the Godhead that communicates the Will of the Father by means of His Mouth. Jesus speaks real Words, and the “rhema” Word He speaks is God’s specific command to the individual, which, if obeyed, will transform a part of that Believer from the “natural” to the “spiritual”:
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice (G5456), and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit (G4151) saith unto the churches.” (Revelation 3:20-22 KJV)
“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light (G5457), and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light (G5457), as he is in the light( G5457), we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” (1 John 1:5-7 KJV)
Voice (G5456) [phone] - Probably akin to G5316 through the idea of disclosure; a tone (articulate, bestial or artificial); by implication an address (for any purpose), saying or language: - noise, sound, voice. (Strong’s Hebrew And Greek Dictionary)
Shine (G5316) [phaino] - Prolongation for the base of G5457; to lighten (shine), that is, show (transitive or intransitive, literal or figurative): - appear, seem, be seen, shine, X think. (Strong’s Hebrew And Greek Dictionary)
Light (G5457) [phos] - From an obsolete phano (to shine or make manifest, especially by rays; compare G5316 and G5346); luminousnesss (in the widest application, natural or artificial, abstract or concrete, literal or figurative): - fire, light. (Strong’s Hebrew And Greek Dictionary)
Speak (G5346) [phemi] - Properly the same as the base of G5457 and G5316; to show or make known one’s thoughts, that is, speak or say: - affirm, say. Compare G3004. (Strong’s Hebrew And Greek Dictionary)
The “Breath of God” (as received by the olfactory/hypothalamus), is the “Voice of God” (the Word) and the “Light of God” together as One… as in the Seven (7) Spirits of God:
“And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light (G5457).” (Matthew 17:1-2 KJV)
The “transformation” [metamorphose] of a Believer comes about as he/she “renews their mind” by obeying the “Will of God” through the “Seven (7) Spirits of God”. Jesus was likewise “transfigured” [metamorphose] on the mountaintop for Peter, James, and John to see as an example of what would shortly be accomplished through Him (the last Adam). After all, God promised it many years before through the appearance of the rainbow:
“I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.” (Genesis 9:11-13 KJV)
The Seven (7) Spirits of God are depicted in the seven primary colors of the rainbow, with each one being associated with a specific frequency/wavelength:
#1 – Indigo – The Spirit of the Lord
#2 – Blue – The Spirit of Wisdom
#3 – Green – The Spirit of Understanding
#4 – Yellow – The Spirit of Counsel
#5 – Orange – The Spirit of Might
#6 – Red – The Spirit of Knowledge
#7 – Violet – The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord
The name “Adam” actually means “earthy - red”:
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (Genesis 2:7 KJV)
“And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.” (1 Corinthians 15:45-47 KJV)
The color “red” is symbolic of the “#6”: the “fleshly/bestial” man in “rebellion” to the Spirit of God. The “natural” man’s only desire is for the things of this earth. In fact the followers of the New Age Religion who worship “Mother Earth” will solidify their body/soul/spirit in “red” – “666” – when they willingly take the “mark of the beast”:
“This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual (G5591), devilish.” (James 3:15 KJV)
When Adam made up his “mind” to please his wife (an extension of his flesh) instead of the Father, he rejected the “Spirit of God” that would have begun the work of transforming his mind from the “natural” (#6 - red) to the “spiritual” (#7 - violet). Because you see whenever the Believer allows the Will of God to be carried out in his/her body through the Seven (7) Spirits of God, their “natural spirit” (red) is overcome by the “Spirit of the Lord” (indigo) producing the “Spirit of the Fear of the Lord” (violet). The final step in God’s Seven Step Process is when the Believer becomes “one with God” (red + indigo = violet): his/her mind renewed in Christ.
That’s the way it works in the real world of "baptism". It’s called the "seven-step process" of dying to the flesh and becoming “born again” of His Spirit.
And with that in mind, it’s time to address the third and final “serious error” that I noted in Chuck and Nancy Missler’s “transforming” book:
Be Ye Transformed

Chapter Ten: Soul and Body

______________________________Power of Sin
One of the reasons we are so prone to making self-centered emotional choices, is that our souls (4) and our bodies (5) (i.e., the flesh) are still dominated and controlled by the power of sin (23). The power of sin is that energy force that Paul tells us in Romans 7:20-21, 23, dwells in our unrenewed bodies. The power of sin’s whole intent and purpose is to cause us to “veer off course” and to “miss the mark”, the mark being the image of Christ.
Satan uses the power of sin as his tool to gain access to our flesh (all the gray area on the charts). Now, no one can take us out of the keeping power of God once we have been born again. We have that eternal security! But we can, by our continual choice, quench God’s power in us and open our souls and bodies up to the power of sin.
***********************
Now, without a doubt, that third error – “eternal security” – is a real kicker: the sum total of errors #1 and #2. And of course that’s where God’s chosen Scripture (13 x 2) comes into play:
“And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Mark 13:13 KJV)
Jesus made it abundantly clear in the preceding Scripture that the Believer can willingly climb down off of God’s “sacrificial altar” at any point in time and stop the “mind renewing” seven-step process of “overcoming the flesh” by “doing the Will of the Father”. I mean, after all, we do have a choice: “How Do You Want Your Fire… Now Or Later?”
“He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:7-8 KJV)
You see that’s what the “grace of God” is all about… and it’s also the reason “once saved always saved” is such a bust. I mean, let’s get real! At any point along our walk with Jesus we can choose to reject His “Word of instruction” and become an “unbeliever”. After all, crucifixion – the death of the flesh – is an extremely painful process to bear:
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words (G4487); which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: (For they could not endure that which was commanded…” (Hebrews 12:14-20 KJV)
God’s grace is such an amazing thing, but the Lord says the “Believer” can fall short of it and thereby lose the saving benefits of it! Before Jesus paid the price for our sins on His Cross, God’s “spoken Word” could only condemn the Believer of their sinful state; it couldn’t change them. But now things are different. God demands that we obey His Word… or else:
“See that ye refuse not him that speaketh (G2980). For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: Whose voice (G5456) then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:25-29 KJV)
So having said all that, let’s do a quick summary on why Chuck and Nancy Missler’s “Be Ye Transformed” book, with it’s “eternal security” that doesn’t need to “hear the Voice of God” and “walk in obedience to it”:
“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world… Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will (G2307) of my Father which is in heaven.” (Philippians 2:12-15; Matthew 7:21 KJV)
What a bust! Once saved, not always saved!
And now that we’ve finished our “Be Ye Transformed” book report, this next one will be easy. In fact Chuck and Nancy Missler’s more recent book – “The Kingdom, Power, & Glory” – has the exact same error as the “Be Ye Transformed” book but with their added “heresy” concerning “no Hell for the sinning saint”. However, before we get too deep in their heretical teaching, let’s see what God’s Word has to say about “The Parable Of The Talents”:
“Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 25:24-30 KJV)
The “talent” in this simple illustration is symbolic of the “rhema” Word of God – God’s grace – that would have “renewed the mind” of the servant if he had not failed to use it. Instead of acting on it, the servant buried it in the earth (symbolic of the natural “red” man).
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;” (Romans 1:18 KJV)
And of course, just as Revelation 21:7 points out, God’s reward for this “fearful” and “unbelieving” servant is “the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” In fact this is what Matthew Henry had to say about that same Scripture concerning the slothful servant:
“His doom is, to be cast into outer darkness. Here, as in what was said to the faithful servants, our Saviour slides insensibly out of the parable into the thing intended by it, and it serves as a key to the whole; for, outer darkness, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth, is, in Christ's discourses, the common periphrasis of the miseries of the damned in hell. Their state is, [1.] Very dismal; it is outer darkness. Darkness is uncomfortable and frightful: it was one of the plagues of Egypt. In hell there are chains of darkness, 2Pe_2:4. In the dark no man can work, a fit punishment for a slothful servant. It is outer darkness, out from the light of heaven, out from the joy of their Lord, into which the faithful servants were admitted; out from the feast. Compare Mat_8:12; Mat_22:13. [2.] Very doleful; there is weeping, which bespeaks great sorrow, and gnashing of teeth, which bespeaks great vexation and indignation. This will be the portion of the slothful servant.” (Matthew Henry’s Commentary On The Whole Bible)
That’s God’s Truth! However, in order to back up their abominable teaching that the terms “outer darkness” and “weeping and gnashing of teeth” has nothing at all to do with Hell or the lake of fire, Chuck and Nancy Missler have included the following quotes from other heretical “eternal security” teachers in their “The Kingdom, Power, & Glory” book:
Charles Stanley talks about the above parable and its mention of “outer darkness” in his book Eternal Security where he says, “The final verse of this parable is so severe that many commentators assume it is a description of hell. It is not! Keep in mind that this is a parable. A parable makes one central point. The point of this parable is that in God’s future kingdom, those who were faithful in this life will be rewarded, and those who were not, will lose any potential reward. Some will be given more privileges and responsibility while others will have none...The outer darkness refers to ‘being thrown outside a building into the dark’ and in that place there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (emphasis added)2
Kenneth Wuest in his Expanded Translation of the Greek New Testament says, “The outer darkness is the darkness that is outside of the King’s banqueting house.” In other words, it is not hell!3
Erwin Lutzer, in his book Your Eternal Reward, says, “These warnings are addressed to believers.”... “God does not let His children get by with disobedience even though their place in heaven is secured and their transgressions legally forgiven.”4
Thayer’s Greek/English Lexicon says that the outer darkness is, “the darkness outside the limits of the lighted palace.”5 It’s evidentially a space in the kingdom, but outside the circle of men and women whose faithfulness earned them a special rank. Again, among the privileges of the overcomers is nearness to Christ. The opposite of this is the darkness outside of His presence. The unprofitable servant is simply being excluded from the light and the joy of the feast with the Lord. One either enters into the joy of the Lord and is included; or one is cast out from that joy and is excluded from the fellow-ship.6
Dr. Spiros Zodhiates, in his wonderful commentary, The Complete Word Study New Testament (with Parallel Greek) comments on “the outer darkness” and the “weeping and gnashing of teeth.” He says: “These terms may be applied to believers who have failed the Lord in their service...In this instance, the “outer darkness” may be a reference to a place or a position of far less rewards for the servants who proved themselves less diligent than those who used and exercised their talents to the fullest. The expression would then refer to the degrees of the enjoyment of heaven rather than referring to hell...
Warren Wiersbe in his Bible Exposition Commentary says (speaking of “weeping and gnashing of teeth): “...we need not see this treatment as punishment in hell, but rather the deep remorse of a man who was an unfaithful servant. He grieves deeply in the darkness outside of the King’s palace, but he is still a servant and thus, will be welcomed back into the King’s estate. The man was dealt with by the Lord, lost his opportunity for service and gained no praise or reward. To me, this is outer darkness!”8
Tony Evans in The Prophecy Study Bible quotes Zane Hodges as saying: “Every Christian will be rewarded based on his words, deeds and faithfulness. Those Christians who are unfaithful (Matthew 25:28-30) will have their rewards taken from them and given to those who were faithful and they will be cast out into outer darkness, the place where there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. The outer darkness described in this passage is likely a lesser state in God’s kingdom.”9

It’s hard to believe that Chuck and Nancy Missler actually believe in and teach such a damnable doctrine as “once saved, always saved”. I mean, the two of them have produce volumes of godly teachings that glorify God by winning souls to Christ… but yet how many souls will be damned because of this “eternal security” abomination they now teach?
“And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Mark 13:13 KJV)
God’s chosen Scripture for Chuck and Nancy Missler contained the number “13” two (2) times (chapter and verse)… with the biblical meaning being “depravity and rebellion” times two (2x). And, of course, that means one (1) number “13” for each of them.
So, once again, the question I have for Chuck and Nancy Missler is, “What Un-Confessed Sin Do You Have In Your Life?” I mean, why else would a “Believer” in Christ twist God’s Word to justify the “sinning saint” entrance into Heaven?
A caterpillar can’t become a functional butterfly until it fights to free itself from the cocoon… just as a sinner can’t truly become a “born again” Believer without first overcoming their flesh by doing the Will (G2307) of the Father.
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will (G2307) of God.” (Romans 12:2 KJV)
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but [of the will] of God.” (John 1:12-13 KJV)
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will (G2307) of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21 KJV)
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3 KJV)
“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” (2 Timothy 3:5 KJV)
Well, that just about wraps up this long-awaited sermonet. In fact there’s only one thing left for me to say:
Don’t be like Chuck and Nancy Missler! Keep on keeping the faith in Jesus… and your transformation in Christ will be made complete!
