Richard Wurmbrand,
Voice Of The Martyrs, And The Antichrist

“For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2 Thessalonians 2:7-12 KJV)

The “mystery of iniquity” is truly at work today. And the following from John Gill is a proper definition thereof:

“[T]he doctrines and practices of antichrist may be called the mystery of iniquity, especially as they were now secretly spread, imbibed, and practised: the foundations of it were now laying in the church by false teachers; for errors and heresies of every sort, respecting the person and offices of Christ, and in opposition to them, were now broached; idolatry, and holding communion with idolaters, now obtained; worshipping of angels was used by some; and superstition and will worship, worship after the commandments of men, were practised; days, and months, and years, distinguished by Jews and Pagans, and difference of meats, were observed; celibacy and virginity began to be admired and commended; dominion and magistracy were despised, and church authority contemned, and many, as Diotrephes, loved to have the pre-eminence; and the doctrine of justification by the works of the law was industriously spread, and zealously preached and received; all which laid the foundation, and are the life and soul of popery:” (John Gill’s Exposition Of The Entire Bible)

Now with “the doctrines and practices of antichrist” in mind, let’s take a look at who “The Voice Of The Martyrs” say they are:

“The Voice of the Martyrs is a non-profit, inter-denominational Christian organization dedicated to assisting the persecuted church worldwide. VOM was founded in 1967 by Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, who was imprisoned 14 years in Communist Romania for his faith in Christ. His wife, Sabina, was imprisoned for three years. In the 1960s, Richard, Sabina, and their son, Mihai, were ransomed out of Romania and came to the United States. Through their travels, the Wurmbrands spread the message of the atrocities that Christians face in restricted nations, while establishing a network of offices dedicated to assisting the persecuted church. The Voice of the Martyrs continues in this mission around the world today through the following main purposes:
Help - We help Christians who are or have been, persecuted for their involvement in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. We provide medical assistance, food, clothing, and other forms of aid.
Love - We support Christians who are willing to invite their fellow men, even their persecutors, to Jesus Christ through faithful deeds of love in a hostile environment. We supply Bibles, literature, radios, and other evangelistic tools.
Encourage - We encourage persecuted Christians by giving their testimony a voice, informing Christians in the USA to know how to help. We believe that the lives and the testimony of persecuted Christians is a vital part of the fellowship of all believers and will challenge and strengthen the faith of Christians everywhere.” (http://www.persecution.com)

The preceding positional statement is who “The Voice Of The Martyrs” (VOM) say they are. However, if you’ll notice I’ve underlined a few of their key words (church, Christians, and believers) that in no way mean what a proper definition of each should imply. In fact the following letter to Tom White (director of VOM) will help us come to a better understanding of the true intent of those very misleading words:

Dear Dr. White:
     Enclosed is a copy of a VOM prayer card for the country of Colombia. The data on the back states: “Christian 95.45%.” All I can say to this, is “You’ve got to be kidding!” Even the USA can’t boast of such a high percentage of Christians! For me, the definition of Christian is a person who believes that the shed blood of Jesus on the cross is the only means of salvation, by faith alone, not works or denomination. Roman Catholics (with very very few exceptions) believe they are saved (i.e., justified) by works and belonging to the “Holy Mother the Roman Catholic Church.” They themselves specify when asked, “No, I’m not Christian, I’m Catholic.”
      You testify to having read Foxes’ Book of Martyrs, so you know that the major persecutor of true Christians down through the ages of church history has been the Roman Catholic church. Roman Catholicism has not changed, and its followers and clergy still persecute Christians–I can testify to this by personal experience as an evangelical Christian missionary in Latin America for nearly 30 years.
     I have been observing that VOM is taking an ever more ecumenical stance in its publications and statistics, apparently denying any difference between evangelical Christian and Roman Catholic beliefs, and inferring that they are all one and the same. Well, in this, you are taking part in fulfilling the prophecy that apostasy will precede the appearing of the Antichrist, called in II Thes. 2:3, “the falling away.” It grieves me very greatly that VOM could be so misled, and also in this way, partake in the movement of the “emergent church.” I join other true evangelical believers in praying that there be a repentance and renewal to sound scriptural doctrine on the part of VOM and its leadership. Until then, I can no longer support in any way VOM or any of its related ministries.

What you have just read is a letter to VOM’s director, Tom White, from someone – a Christian missionary in Latin America – who knows the facts about the “hostile area to Christians” in which God had called him to minister (81-90% of the Columbians are Roman Catholic). In fact this same Christian missionary signed the letter “Sincerely grieved” because he had finally seen the “ecumenical” truth of the “mystery of iniquity” working in and through this “inter-denominational Christian organization” of VOM. I mean, after all, the bottom line reality of the word “ecumenical” is the “One World Religion” of the Antichrist. And if that’s not what you call “inter-denominational” what is?

So there you have a few of the cold hard facts of VOM. But there’s much, much more. In fact what better way to “see” the true spirit of an organization than to take a close “look” at it’s founder:

     Richard Wurmbrand died on February 17, 2001 in Whittier, California, at the age of 91. A Romanian Jew, he and his wife converted to Christianity in 1936. When World War II ended, Wurmbrand pastored a church of 1,000, mostly of Jewish converts. He also printed and organized the distribution of a million Russian Gospels to the Russian troops that occupied Romania. He was fluent in nine languages, including English.
     In 1947, two years after the war ended, Wurmbrand was arrested and imprisoned for 14 years for leading an underground Christian church and smuggling Bibles into Russia. His wife, also a Christian, was imprisoned for three years. While in prison he converted several high-ranking secret police officers who helped provide his eventual release. In 1964, the Communist Government allowed him and his family to be ransomed for $10,000 by Norwegian Christians and leave Romania.
     In November 1966, Wurmbrand immigrated with his family to the United States. Immediately, he started the Christian Missions to the Communist World (presently called The Voice of the Martyrs), a worldwide organization trying to help Christians persecuted by communist regimes. His book, Tortured for Christ (Pub. 1967), became one of the first books to alert the West as to what was taking place in Communist prisons.

Now without a doubt, Richard Wurmbrand was a strong opponent to Communism. His ministry was actually founded as a result of the satanic persecution he personally experienced while in Communist prisons. However, it was in June of 1984, on day six (6) of Alberto Rivera’s seven (7) day seminar on “The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse And The Roman Catholic Religious System”, that he exposed Richard Wurmbrand’s allegiance to the founders of Communism – The Roman Catholic Church. And the following is a sample of what Alberto Rivera had to say:

“The first pieces of this ‘white horse’ not only brought the greatest curses of this country but it brought with it the opening of the door to Communismo… Communism never raised up in this country until the first pieces of the Pope, with the power, the influence, the persuasion they now have… but there are some people trying to make popular this people. Do you know why? You’d better know it, the ‘red horse’ is riding, riding, riding, and nobody will stop with the greatest arsenal of weapons… he was in Brussels, and in Brussels he was in the Cathedral, invited among other guest, that other so-called ‘militant against Communismo’ – Wurmbrant. Wurmbrant, you hear about him. Wurmbrant. Yes. What is his first name? Richard Wurmbrand! Mr. Wurmbrand was there too. Oh they are all coming together. Ha ha. Red and white. And anti-red. They were in Brussels and I have the tape that was recorded under the providence of God on all these conversations. All! You see we have enemies, but we do have friends too… And listen to this, out of his own mouth this man said while he was in the Cathedral, the Priest of Rome came to him with the Host, and he said, “And of course they knew that we were no Catholics per say.” Ah! Now he considered himself all right a Catholic, but not just given the name… And he considered them all his Brothers and Sisters. Beloved, there is something seriously wrong… The world needs to know who is who, right now, no later! It’s too late for the world to know what is Christ Church is: what is a Christian! They don’t know! The Protestants look at the Catholics and believe they are the Christians! The Jews look at the Catholics and believe they are the Christians! The Brahmans, the Buddhist, the Jehovah’s Witness, the Mormons, the witches, they look at the Catholics and they believe there is Christ’s Church. But when they look you as a Christian, they don’t even believe that you are in it. What is this? They give more credit to a Roman Catholic as a Christian than you being the real and true Christian. Now you understand why they cannot be converted.”

Richard Wurmbrand was a Communist sympathizer through his affiliation with the Roman Catholic Church… and what better man to expose him than Alberto Rivera. Because you see at one point in time Alberto Rivera was a prominent Jesuit Priest who was being considered for the august position of Black Pope in the Roman Catholic Church. But then came the day when he discovered what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. By the grace of God he saw “The Light” and was able to escape the Roman Catholic Religious System with his life and go on to expose their darkest secrets… which even included their grisly undertakings in the establishment of Communism (the ‘red horseman’ of the apocalypse). But then on 6/20/97 Alberto Rivera died – the “Jesuit contract” on his life had finally been fulfilled. (See “Alberto Rivera – The Jesuit Priest Who Told The Truth” for more of his story.)

Now just in case the preceding has not been enough to convince you of the fact that Richard Wurmbrand and his Voice Of The Martyrs organization are promoters of the One World Religion of the Antichrist (the Roman Catholic Church), let’s give it one last try with a few convincing words from the founder. Because you see in 1988 Richard Wurmbrand published a book entitled “The Sweetest Song”, with the following brief overview printed on the back cover:

“The Sweetest Song is his unique and distinctive study of the Song of Solomon, as illustrated by the lives of Christian saints and martyrs. A topic which he is particularly well-equipped to tackle and which makes The Sweetest Song a wise, distillation of a life spent in the torment of actual captivity, where the authority of Scripture and the redeeming power of the Spirit became real and vital. Pastor Wurmbrand wrote The Sweetest Song after meditating on the sayings of Rabbi Akiba in the Babylonian Talmud" where he calls The Song of Songs' the holiest of all the Scriptures. Translating this idea, Wurmbrand argues that the lives of the persecuted church are the holiest of all. Hence the poignancy and depth of this new commentary.”

So there you have it! We haven’t even opened the book yet and we’ve already exposed the spirit of Antichrist that’s in it! But please allow me to explain.

The Babylonian Talmud is Judaism's holiest book. They (the Jews of Judaism) consider the writings contained therein to not only hold authority (take precedence) over the Old Testament’s Masoretic Text, but even to the exclusion of everything else.

“The Talmud is to this day the circulating heart's blood of the Jewish religion. Whatever laws, customs, or ceremonies we observe - whether we are orthodox, Conservative, Reform or merely spasmodic sentimentalists - we follow the Talmud. It is our common law.” (New York Herald Tribune. (1959). Nov. 17)

The Jewish Scribes claim the Talmud to be in part a collection of traditions Moses gave them in oral form. But yet during the time of Jesus, He condemned the traditions of the Mishnah (early Talmud) and those who taught it (Scribes and Pharisees). In fact the Talmud not only nullifies the teachings of the Holy Bible, but it goes so far as to blaspheme the Name of Jesus Christ:

“Jesus was sexually immoral, worshipped statues of stone and brick, was cut off from the Jewish people for his wickedness, and refused to repent.” (Tractates Sanhedrin 107b and Sotah 47a)“

“Jesus is in hell, being boiled in hot excrement.” (Tractate Gitten 57)

These Jewish blasphemers, who follow the teachings of the Talmud, call their religion “Judaism”. They have a religious form, they have religious teachers they call rabbis, and the place of their meeting is a synagogue. In fact Jesus said their synagogue is where they work the works of Satan himself:

“And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.” (Revelation 2:8-9 KJV)

Judaism (and the Jews who practice it) has the spirit of Antichrist! But yet Richard Wurmbrand called them his Brothers and Sisters in Christ. He should have called them his brothers and sisters in Antichrist! What a farce! In fact he goes on to initiate those reading his book into “Satan’s occult” on the very first page of his introduction:

“In Zohar (The Light), main book of the Kabbalah, a work which contains the Jewish mystical tradition, it is written:” (The Sweetest Song, pg. 7)

Kabbalah, Jewish mystical tradition, is witchcraft of the highest order! And the Lord God Almighty exposed it as an abomination in the book of Ezekiel for all who’re willing to receive it:

“And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall. Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door. And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here. So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about.” (Ezekiel 8:7-10 KJV)

Now if the “Jewish mystic” wasn’t bad enough already, Richard Wurmbrand followed it up a few pages later by admonishing the teachings of a “Moslem mystic”:

“This book will be a kind of commentary upon Solomon's Song. It will be a unique commentary – or rather, a new translation of the Song. It will be a translation of it into the lives of saints and martyrs, most of them from our own times, who belong to the Underground Church in the Communist countries… Rabia of Basra, a Moslem mystic, used to pray: 'O Lord, in public I invoke You in the way one invokes his master. In public I say, 'O my God,' but when we are alone I say, 'O my Beloved.'… Solomon's Song is written for such hearts. It is a poem of love between Israel and his Saviour.” (The Sweetest Song, pg. 8-10)

Talk about “ecumenical”! Talk about “inter-denomination”! Talk about the “spirit of Antichrist”! Richard Wurmbrand associated the Moslem god “Allah” with “Jesus the Christ”. And he goes on to justify his blasphemous actions through the following heresy:

“I do not rule out the possibility that some love Jesus by another name. They have never heard the name 'Jesus' but they love Love. They love self-sacrifice, they love forgiveness and goodness. They love Divinity coming down to earth, and earthly beings uniting with Divinity. They love the poor and oppressed, those who represent Jesus on earth. You can love Jesus without knowing his name. Many who call in prayer upon Krishna, Buddha or some other name may perhaps in reality mean 'Jesus'.” (The Sweetest Song, pg. 32)

But that’s not all! Richard Wurmbrand goes on to substantiate his heretical teachings by perverting God’s Holy Word in the Song Of Solomon:

“The bride says, 'Why should I be as one that turns aside' by the flocks of your companions?' (1:7). In this verse the founders of other religions are called the companions of Jesus, not his competitors. Jesus has no competition. He is not threatened by all those who have inscribed high thoughts about God in the Vedas of the Indians and in the holy books of other nations; he is not threatened by Confucius, Lao-Tzu, Buddha, Muhammed and other founders of religion who, in the measure of the light which they had, tried to bring men to better ways.” (The Sweetest Song, pg. 51)

So are you starting to get a better spiritual picture of Richard Wurmbrand and his “Voice Of The Martyrs”? Well, now it’s time to zoom in on that picture and add lots of color. Because the following quote will help you see Richard Wurmbrand’s true colors close up:

“Our universe is made up of things so tiny that they cannot be seen even through the most powerful of microscopes. The diameter of the dome of St Peter's basilica in Rome is about the same measurement as the height of a fourteen-storey house. Imagine a dust particle in it. As the size of the dust particle is to that of the basilica, so (approximately) is the size of an electron compared to that of an atom.” (The Sweetest Song, pg. 111)

Out of all the examples Richard Wurmbrand could have used to make his illustration, he chose to use the building that epitomizes “The Roman Catholic Church”. But it doesn’t end there! He continues to build on his fornication with “The Whore Of Babylon” by encouraging the readers of his book to engage in “Mary worship” through the testimony of yet another “Christian” prisioner:

“Another Lithuanian prisoner, Julius Sasnaukas, wrote to his family on the same Mother's Day:

My best wishes to Mother and Grandmother. It is difficult to find the right words for this occasion. Here by my bunk I have a tiny Leonardo Madonna on a postage stamp and it seems that life, love and eternal spring seep into this dismal abode.

It can help us all to think frequently of the beautiful example of the virgin Mary.” (The Sweetest Song, pg. 135-136)

And continuing right along with Richard Wurmbrand and his idolatrous association with “The Whore Of Babylon”, we next find him conditioning the reader to accept the blasphemous Roman Catholic occult practice of eating the Flesh, and drinking the Blood of their freshly crucified Jesus:

“Michaela, a Rumanian Orthodox nun, like all Orthodox and Catholic Christians, believed that the Communion bread and wine really are the body and blood of our Lord. Every time she looked at the Sacrament, she saw his intoxicating beauty.” (The Sweetest Song, pg. 173)

So there you have it! Richard Wurmbrand said “Orthodox nuns, like all Orthodoxs and Catholics” are “Christian”! Well, Catholics are not Christian. Satanic, yes, but definitely not Christian!

And with that in mind, it’s time to look at one last example of Richard Wurmbrand’s perverted “Christianity”:

“Ignatius of Loyola saw, in a rapture, divine things. While sitting near a river and allowing his eyes to rest on the water, his sight was opened and he understood many things - secrets of faith and revelations from the realm of natural science - with such an overwhelming clarity that he had no doubt it was a revelation from God.” (The Sweetest Song, pg. 40)

Ignatius of Loyola! Richard Wurmbrand portrayed him as a great man of God. But letting the truth be known, he was a great help in building the Roman Catholic Religious Institution… and he was satanic to the core. In fact what better way to wrap this one up than a few more of the ugly details on this demon possessed man that Richard Wurmbrand considered to be so holy… and what better source to provide this information than Alberto Rivera. Update: Tom White took his own life on 4/18/12, the day after allegations were made to authorities that he had inappropriate contact with a young girl.
