The following letter-form was brought about as a means of teaching my children the Word of God through the mail. And of course, quite naturally so, that’s the reason I begin these letters with "Dear Children" and end them with "Love Dad". So for the rest of you who participate in these weekly messages, please keep their original intended purpose in mind.
Dear Children,
Praise the Lord! Glory be to God!! Thank you Jesus!!!
Exactly two (2) weeks ago today, and nine (9) weeks from the writing of our last Jimmy Swaggart sermonet – “Frances Swaggart And Her Lesbian Lovers?”, I received an email from one of the former panel members on Jimmy Swaggart’s “The Message Of The Cross”. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least!
Well, his name is Dr. Jarrett Flood, and according to what I’ve been told he’s now been absent from “The Message Of The Cross” broadcast for many, many months. In fact I was not given the reason for his departure, but there were lots of other things that we did discuss during our one (1) hour and twenty (20) minute phone conversation the following Wednesday (3/5/14).
I mean, it was so good to be able to personally discuss Jimmy Swaggart’s “error on the cross” to someone who’s been affiliated with the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries for such a very long time. And just as I had promised Dr. Jarrett Flood, the following letter contained God’s special Scripture, to open his eyes to the truth of Jimmy Swaggart’s error, and it was sent out only four (4) days after our lengthy phone conversation on 3/5/14 (http://www.fmh-child.org/Jarrett_Flood_3.9.14.pdf):

Dear Mr. Flood,
The first day you contacted me I took the matter to the Lord in prayer. As I was seeking Him on how I might help you see the error in Jimmy Swaggart’s “Message Of The Cross”, the Lord gave me the following verse for you:
“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.” (James 1:21 KJV)
Well, the more I thought about that verse for you – a doctor of medicine – the more it made sense as to why the Lord God had chosen it. After all, if anybody should be able to relate to the process of “engrafting/implanting” something in the human body, for the purpose of “saving the life” of that individual, it should be an “MD”.
And going on into the next verse, we find an additional requirement that must be met in order for this “implanted Word” to save the soul of the individual:
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” (James 1:22 KJV)
You see in order for God’s “salvation plan” to “work”, the recipient of this “engrafted/implanted Word” must “do/perform” that same Word to its fullest extent.
However, as it concerns Jimmy Swaggart’s “Message Of The Cross”, (as expounded on in his Expositor’s Study Bible), this is what he had to say concerning your God-given Scripture of “and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls”:
“The story of the Bible, i.e., “the Word,” is the story of the Cross.” (JSESB)
So Jimmy Swaggart says that the “engrafted Word” is “the story of the Bible – the story of the Cross”. However, as I’m about to show you, he is very, very wrong in what he says. And the following excerpt from A.W. Tozer’s book “The Pursuit of God” will help us in our discovery of his error:
“The Voice of God is the most powerful force in nature, indeed the only force in nature, for all energy is here only because the power-filled Word is being spoken. The Bible is the written word of God, and because it is written it is confined and limited by the necessities of ink and paper and leather. The Voice of God, however, is alive and free as the sovereign God is free. ‘The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.’ The life is in the speaking words. God’s word in the Bible can have power only because it corresponds to God’s word in the universe. It is the present Voice which makes the written Word all-powerful. Otherwise it would lie locked in slumber within the covers of a book... This universal Voice of God was by the ancient Hebrews often called Wisdom, and was said to be everywhere sounding and searching throughout the earth, seeking some response from the sons of men.” (A.W. Tozer – “The Pursuit of God”)
A.W. Tozer says that the “Word that gives life” (i.e., “engrafted Word which is able to save our souls”) is in God’s “spoken Word”. And the following Scriptures prove it to be true:
“Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words (G4487) of eternal life.” (John 6:68 KJV)
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words (G4487) that I [Jesus] speak (G2980) unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63 KJV)
“I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. And if any man hear my words (G4487), and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words (G4487), hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken (G2980), the same shall judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken (G2980) of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak (G2980). And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak (G2980) therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak (G2980).” (John 12:46-50 KJV)
Words (G4487) [rhema] – from reo, to speak. A word spoken or uttered; a speech or sentence consisting of several words; a word, command; denoting the operative or all powerful word or command of God; a report, account. Rhema stands for the subject matter of the word, the thing which is spoken about. (The Complete Word Study New Testament With Greek Parallel)
Speak (G2980) [laleo] - A prolonged form of an otherwise obsolete verb; to talk, that is, utter words: - preach, say, speak (after), talk, tell, utter. Compare G3004. (Strong’s Hebrew And Greek Dictionary)
The “rhema” Word of God is the spoken “command/instruction” from the Father that if “performed/obeyed” will “judge sin” and bring “life everlasting” to the individual in whom the Word was “engrafted/implanted”. However, if this same “rhema” Word of God is not “performed/obeyed” it will “judge/condemn” the individual in the last day.
So once again, Jimmy Swaggart says that this “engrafted word” is “the story of the Bible – the story of the Cross”… but Scripture from the book of James will prove him to be fearfully wrong.
However, before we go to the book of James let’s read from the book of Genesis and refresh our memory on the “engrafted Word” (rhema) that God spoke to Abraham:
“And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.” (Genesis 22:1-2 KJV)
That was God’s command (rhema Word) to Abraham. And now for the details on what was accomplished in Abraham’s life as a result of his obedience:
“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” (James 2:19-24 KJV)
Abraham was “justified” (made righteous) through his “obedience” to God’s “engrafted word”. But yet in the Expositor’s Study Bible, Jimmy Swaggart tries his best to get folks to believe the exact opposite. I mean, after all, Jimmy Swaggart says that this “engrafted word” is “the story of the Bible – the story of the Cross”… and a person is justified by faith alone in what Jesus did on His Cross:
“could be better understood by saying, “You see then, how that by works a man’s justification is proven.”” (JSESB)
So, God freely gives His “engrafted Word” to the “Believer”… but the “Believer” must “doeth” what is commanded of them or they’re really not a “Believer” at all:
“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:12-13 KJV)
I mean, after all, the “rhema” Word of God is the “Will of God” that must be “performed/obeyed” in order to “work out” the renewing of the mind that makes the individual “righteous”:
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will (G2307) of God.” (Romans 12:1-2 KJV)
Will (G2307) [thelema] - From the verb thelo (G2309), to will. The suffix –ma indicates that it is the result of the will. The will, not to be conceived as demand, but as an expression or inclination of pleasure towards that which is liked, that which pleases and creates joy. When it denotes God’s will, it signifies His gracious disposition toward something. Used to designate what God Himself does of His own good pleasure… Paul uses it especially with reference to God’s saving purpose (Eph. 1:5, 9, 11)…the will of God which must be done. (The Complete Word Study New Testament With Greek Parallel)
The “Will of God” is the “engrafted Word” that must be done in order to “save your soul”. In fact it was this same “engrafted Word” (Will of God) that Jesus obeyed in order to keep from sinning and prepare His Body to defeat the “sin of the world” while suffering on His Cross:
“Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.” (Hebrews 5:8-10 KJV)
Jesus defeated sin through His “suffering” in obedience to the “engrafted Word” from His Father in Heaven. And we are called to do the same – suffer in obedience. In fact to “offer our bodies as a living sacrifice” is one and the same as “taking up our cross” as Jesus commanded:
“From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.” (Matthew 16:21-25 KJV)
Jesus’ command for His followers to “take up their cross” is figurative in that it adequately describes the “crucifixion of the flesh” that will take place as the Believer “doeth” the “engrafted Word” from the Father. Can you even imagine the “suffering” Abraham must have endured as he “worked out” his “engrafted Word” to sacrifice his only son?
But yet Jimmy Swaggart says that it just ain’t so. In fact he’s just like Peter in wanting “salvation without the pain”. Here is yet another Scripture where Jesus commands His followers to “take up their cross”. I’ve also included Jimmy Swaggart’s comments from his Expositor’s Study Bible that suggest Jesus didn’t really mean what He said:
“And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” (Mark 8:34 KJV)
“speaks of an interval of some period of time between His rebuke of Peter in this present statement – deny his own strength, ability, talent, power, and carnal intellect – not suffering as many suppose, but rather the benefit of the Cross – implying that Jesus cannot be followed, unless it’s by the way of the Cross.” (JSESB)
For many years Jimmy Swaggart has avoided crucifying his very own flesh… which is now very much out of control. And now he’s teaching others to do the same through his heretical teachings on the “Message Of The Cross”. “Just look to the Cross”, he says!
Please seriously pray about this, and we can then talk about it further.
In Christ,
Bruce Hallman

So there you have it – more damning proof that Jimmy Swaggart has manipulated and twisted the Word of God in order to make it line up with his heretical teachings on “The Message Of The Cross”! And, of course, this is the very same reason that we need more like Dr. Jarrett Flood to come forth and be willing to stand with us in our efforts to right this wrong that’s being contrived by the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. I mean, after all, Chick Publications (makers of Chick tracts) has been willing to stand with us. Watch the video and see it for yourself:

(Download MPEG-4 Video)
In closing, please pray that Dr. Jarrett Flood, and others like him, will be willing to stand up for the truth of Jimmy Swaggart’s error that’s most certainly damning untold thousands to an everlasting fiery torment in Hell.
Jimmy Swaggart’s “faith in the Cross” is in no way, shape, or form the same as “faith in Jesus”! Don’t believe Jimmy Swaggart’s demonically inspired teachings… and “keep on keeping the faith in Jesus!!!”

Dad (Bruce Hallman)
